|Message from CIES President|
About a month ago we were together in Chicago sharing ideas, community and friendship.
As the happy memories of the conference linger in our minds I wanted to write this message to express my appreciation for the excellent conference we all constructed, and to update you on a number of CIES events and activities.
As you are aware the annual conference is the culmination of the summative action of our CIES community. You are indeed a great part of this effort. I would like to thank you for your energy, passion and commitment for comparative and international education evident throughout the conference.
I specially want to thank you for your patience as we managed to successfully introduce a number of important and necessary changes that we expect will improve not only the quality of future conferences but will also insure that we have the necessary resources to be responsive to members’ emerging needs. The good news is that we do not foresee any major changes to the implemented process in the short term. Nevertheless we would like to gather your feedback on the innovations introduced this year. We will be sending this week a short questionnaire to this effect. The results of the survey will be posted in the website.
In addition to the information that we will gather through the survey I will be giving you a report on the conference attendance and other details regarding future plans for CIES. As a preview, you will be happy to know that in spite of the economic downturn and the innovations and changes we introduced this year, attendance to the conference was no different from that of other years. We had amazing support from organizations committed to comparative and international education and see continued growth in our membership and increased quality in our conferences.
The CIES 2010 Conference Survey is coming next week! Check your e-mail for the survey link. ? ?
